An investigation is underway into the crash of an AH64 Delta Apache Longbow Helicopter during routine training at a Fort Rucker airfield.

An AH64 Delta Apache Longbow is used for pilot aircraft qualification training.

The Apache was training at Hooper Stage Field in Ozark.

Around midnight Tuesday, after conducting a flight maneuver, the chopper crashed into nearby trees. Hooper's crash rescue team responded to the pilots may-day call and secured the crash site.

The helicopter had two crewmembers on board when it crashed. Both pilots were treated and released from a local hospital.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

Damage to the helicopter is more than $1 million. The Apache Longbow is valued at about $20 million.
