Missle Plot

An FBI affidavit reveals more details about the investigation of a British national accused in a plot to smuggle a missile into the U.S.

Hemant Lakhani was arrested yesterday in Newark, New Jersey. Officials say he'd flown in from London to close the sale of a Russian shoulder-fired missile.

Besides the initial missile sale, the affidavit says Lakhani had asked Russian agents posing as suppliers for 50 more missiles. The missiles were to be sent to the U.S. by Aug. 30. The FBI document also says he was interested in purchasing a ton of C-Four plastic explosive.

The evidence against Lakhani includes hours of audio and videotapes. He allegedly discusses the smuggling plot and refers to the Sept. 11 attacks as "a good thing."
