Montgomery Officer Shot

Officials say a Montgomery police officer was critically wounded today when he was shot in the face during a traffic stop.

Officials say the officer, whose name has not been released, was working an overtime traffic enforcement around 12:40 p.m. when he stopped a gray Chevrolet a few blocks from the capitol.

They say the officer approached the vehicle and the suspect pointed a gun at him and shot him.

One suspect, Eldrick McNeal, was found in a sandpit off Decatur Street shortly before 3 p.m. and more suspects were being sought.

Police are also looking for a white car that was seen headed toward downtown.
