California Governor's Race

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Arnold Schwarzenegger is now a Republican candidate for California governor. And the actor says he's ready for any personal attacks the race may bring.

On "The Tonight Show," Schwarzenegger told host Jay Leno allies of Democratic Governor Gray Davis will throw everything at him, and he's not afraid of being called "a womanizer" or "a terrible person."

The 56-year-old Republican says he's running in the October recall election, because Davis has failed the state terribly. He says he wants to make sure children have books in school, and that businesses and residents start returning to the state instead of leaving.

Schwarzenegger told Leno running for office is the toughest decision he's made since deciding to get a bikini wax in 1978.
