Florida Minimum Wage

An effort is being made to make it part of Florida's constitution to have a minimum wage of $6.15 an hour.

That's $1 an hour higher than the federal level.

Under the proposal, the minimum pay in Florida would also automatically increase each year based on inflation.

Advocates for the working poor say the minimum standard is needed in Florida because of the large number of service related jobs that exist there.

They also say too many Floridians have a hard time making ends meet, even though they work full time.
