Sheriff's Election

First elected in 1976, Fred Peel became one of Florida's youngest sheriff's at the age of 21.

Thursday, Sheriff Peel is 56-year-old and he is still the chief law enforcement officer in Washington County.

There's been recent rumors that he wouldn't run for the position again, but the sheriff is putting those rumors to rest.

Peel will seek re-election to a seventh term in office, a job which he loves and enjoys working for the people of Washington County.

Peel is also a retired major in the Florida Army National Guard.

The sheriff's election is in November 2004.
