Escaped Inmate Recaptured

An inmate who escaped from a tri-state jail is back in custody this morning after a police chase.

Nineteen-year-old John Jessie Riley, Jr. broke out of the Calhoun County Jail Wednesday afternoon. Around the same time, authorities noticed a stolen car and tried to stop it.

The driver was Riley who fled from the police for several miles then got out of the car and ran on foot. He left the car in gear and it hit a parked car, but authorities caught Riley.

Riley is charged with aggravated assault, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and resisting arrest with violence and willful reckless driving.

He was being held in the Calhoun County Jail for numerous armed burglary charges.
