There are new developments on the proposed I-10 Connector route in Dothan.
Dothan Mayor Chester Sowell says the federal government has their own thoughts on the I-10 project.
Sowell announced that the federal highway administration wants a Western I-10 route built near Highway 431.
Alabama Department of Transportation officials notified the city of the decision last week in a meeting with the mayor.
The Western route will connect with the Eastern route near Highway 231 North.
The mayor says the feds input will delay the project for another 9 to 12 months.
A public hearing on the I-10 project will be held in either late September or early October.
