Weekend Rescue

Ambulance

Some local emergency officials were honored Monday for a heroic effort in saving an Alzheimer's patient.

The Dothan Fire and Police Departments along with MAST Helicopter, Houston County Rescue Association and Pilcher's Ambulance Service helped save the patient's life.

Seventy-seven-year-old Willie Davis has Alzheimer's and he disappeared from his home last Sunday at 2 a.m.

Because crews were searching wooded areas and railroad tracks, officials called in the MAST Helicopter (Military Assistance For Safety and Traffic).

They were able to locate Davis in eight minutes.

Officials called the railways once they found Davis near the tracks to make sure a train wasn't in route.

They said there was a train 1,000 away, but they were able to stop it before it reached the rescue scene.
