A Panhandle woman is suing the state's child welfare agency, saying it didn't do enough to prevent her grandson's death two years ago.
Three-year-old Chance Keesler was beaten to death at his Springfield home by the mother's live-in boyfriend. Christopher Brian Morrison is now serving a life prison term.
In her lawsuit, Rachelle Keesler says the Department of Children and Families did not follow up on a series of complaints about the child being abused. The suit is being handled by attorney Karen Gievers.
The lawsuit said the DCF did some investigating, but did not remove the child from an abusive situation.
