Henry County Water Grant

Alabama Gov. Bob Riley awarded a $400,000 grant to Henry County Commission for water line extensions that will eliminate a potential health hazard caused by use of contaminated well water.

The funds will be used to extend public water lines to 380 residents in the communities of Omusee Creek, Sandy Creek and Bethlehem Church.

Also, residents that live near Highway 173 in the West-Central portion of the county and along County Road 46 in West Henry County will be connected to the Henry County Water Authority.

The county has pledged almost $589,000 in local matching funds for the project.
