The war on crystal methamphetamine has reached a new level in Northwest Florida.

Holmes County Sheriff Dennis Lee says it's fortunate that none of his deputies were killed during a drug raid.

Authorities found a booby trap inside the front door of a Bonifay home.
The devise was made of a rat trap, fishing line and a shotgun shell. It was intended to fire the shell into the person who tripped the wire.

Fortunately, deputies saw it before going inside.

The occupants of the house were arrested. Sam and Ramona Phillips face a federal charge of possession of an explosive device. That's in addition to state charges of possession and manufacture of crystal meth.

At the time of their arrest, the Phillips were out of jail on conditional release. They have previously been arrested on drug charges.

The couple is being held without bond.
