Carver High School

Carver High School

The fate of a piece of Dothan's black history has now been determined with the demolition of Carver High School.

Those who were fighting to save the old school say the city's action leaves a bitter taste.

City workers were at Carver High School early Wednesday morning knocking down the building. Before the day was over Carver High School was no more.

Dothan City Commissioners passed a resolution several months ago to tear down the school.

City officials are considering a number of plans for the property including a park, retirement center or Habitat for Humanity homes.
