Redpine Healthcare Technologies, Inc. (Redpine) will move its corporate headquarters and software development company from Spokane, Wash. to Bay County, Fla., the company announced Tuesday. Redpine is projected to hire more than 100 employees within its first year of operations, growing to 410 employees by the end of 2015. The average annual wage of the jobs will be $49,155 – 150 percent of Bay County’s average annual salary.
The company expects to be operational by September 2011 and will be located on the Fourth Floor of the Hancock Bank Center at 1022 West 23rd St. in Panama City.
“We are very excited about moving to Panama City and the positive impact it will have on both our company and our customers,” said Shad Wheeler, president of Redpine. “Bay County offers a tremendous workforce that we believe will play a key role in supporting our continued growth and our mission to allow doctors to do what they do best – take care of their patients. We take care of the rest.”
Redpine offers chiropractic care providers a complete practice management system and comprehensive medical billing services to its customers, ensuring that doctors are paid quickly, simplifying the billing and collection process and satisfying the rapidly changing requirements of the new healthcare legislation.
“This is great for our area,” said Bay County Commission Chairman Bill Dozier. “This commission has taken a proactive stance in this dismal economy by working to bring industry and jobs to Bay County. This is the first indication that our efforts are paying off, and we hope to welcome many more companies.”
Florida Governor Rick Scott lauded the move.
“I am pleased to welcome Redpine’s headquarters and high-tech business to Florida,” said Florida Governor Rick Scott. “We’re focused on nurturing a business climate that encourages business expansion and job creation in our state.”
The company is the developer and sole provider of ChiroCollector, a cloud-based chiropractic practice management and electronic medical record system. The company was founded in 2006 as ProVolve Solutions and strives to meet rapidly changing customer demands as regulations and complex billing requirements continue to change. Redpine currently serves over 200 clients nationwide and continues to grow its client-base at a consistent pace.
“Redpine’s move to Florida is indicative of the state’s success in advancing its information technology sector,” added Gray Swoope, president & CEO of Enterprise Florida. “We look forward to this company’s growth in Bay County and the positive effects it will have on Northwest Florida’s economy.”
For each 100 jobs Redpine creates, an additional 59 jobs will be created in other areas of the community, according to Janet Watermeier, executive director of the Bay County Economic Development Alliance (EDA).
“It is because of the hard work of the Bay County Commissioners and staff, Governor Scott’s team, Enterprise Florida and the EDA that has made this location decision a reality,” said Glen McDonald, chairman of the EDA. “The concerted effort from all of our partners and investors has demonstrated that our community is committed to attracting quality companies, like Redpine, to our marketplace.”
Facilitated by the EDA, a competitive package of state and local incentives was developed to attract Redpine to Bay County. The company was approved for the Governor’s Quick Action Closing Fund, Florida’s Qualified Target Industry Tax Refund and the Bay County Economic Partnership Award, the county’s newly-formed incentive program. Wheeler selected Bay County over communities in Nebraska and Texas, which also offered competitive incentive packages to Redpine, because of Bay County’s business-friendly community and Governor Scott’s new jobs-oriented focus for the state.
Redpine’s primary advantage is that it sells service instead of software, according to Wheeler. Before the product’s development, the company spent time with chiropractic practitioners to identify how their practices might be improved through the use of management software and professional services. Working together, Redpine and its clients explored ways to enhance the clients’ communication and time management while reducing errors and omissions and ultimately get them paid quickly and completely. As a result, the software tracks and manages insurance benefits and coverage, patient call-backs, documentation, coding, appeals, account reconciliation and other critical processes. Automated reports facilitate the evaluation and oversight of the practice.
Employment applications for Redpine are being processed through the Gulf Coast Workforce Center located at 625 Highway 231 in Panama City. The company plans to hire professionals in the areas of marketing, sales, medical billing, customer support and training.
