Whiddon Withdraws Plea

A Henry County woman sentenced to more than 650 years in prison for embezzling more than $1 million now wants to take her chances with a jury.

Susan Whiddon has filed a motion to withdraw her guilty plea.

Whiddon admitted earlier this month that she stole from the Abbeville engineering firm where she worked for 13 years.

She pled guilty to 166 counts of theft of property.

Judge Larry Anderson sentenced Whiddon to four years on each count or 664 years behind bars.

A hearing to discuss how much money Whiddon owes the victims and how she might repay it is still set for Nov. 14.

The motion to withdraw her guilty plea could be discussed at that time.
