Regional Firefighter Meeting

Firefighters from several cities are coming together in Dothan to discuss how to deal with disasters.

The two-day event focuses on both man-made and natural disasters, as well as fire departments abilities to respond.

The program is being sponsored by the State Emergency Management Office.

Thursday’s focus will be communicating between departments, which is something, that fire officials say is especially important during more extreme disasters like terrorist activities or Category 5 hurricanes.

Captain Pete Webb with the Dothan Fire Department says, "We always have to be prepared. Large amounts of people and resources are required and if we don't train, then we'll get rusty and we want to offer the best response and recovery in any type of disaster."
