A state lawmaker from the Wiregrass officially announces his bid for re-election.
Representative Joe R. Carothers is attempting to serve his 9th term as a representative of Houston County.
Carothers has held that position for the last 32-years.
During his decades of service, he says he is proud to say that he helped Houston County's road system become one of the best in Alabama.
But he says there are still many things he would like to do.
"I want to continue to build on the income tax refund. We started with the lowest in the nation at four-thousand dollars. We moved into twelve-five and in the future we want to move it to fifteen-five. That's just something we're going to have to work on in the next four years and I want to be a part of that,” said Rep. Joe R. Carothers.
If elected, Carothers says he would also like to continue working toward improving the county's education system.
