Ozark police have arrested a man they say tried to kill a police officer.
Thirty-one-year-old Laymond Edward Reynolds of Newton was arrested for attempted murder of a police officer.
Saturday night Officer Bill Driggers made a traffic stop. Police say while Driggers was interviewing Reynolds about an earlier assault case, he hit the officer in the head.
During the arrest, officials say Reynolds took Driggers’ gun and shot at the officer.
A second officer on the scene helped get control of Reynolds, but Reynolds fired another shot.
Neither officer was harmed in the shooting. Reynolds is in the Dale County Jail with no bond.
