For the first time ever, Henry County residents will be able to pay their property taxes online. The convenience of the World Wide Web will cut down on headaches and long lines.
Going to the Henry County Revenue Office to pay property taxes or to inquire about available properties will soon be a thing of the past. That's because all important tax information will be available online; no more paperwork, no more headaches, and definitely no long lines.
Just ask Henry County property owner Lowell Tillis who often travels from Eufaula to Abbeville.
“It'll save a lot of time and expense."
The first of its kind, multi-purpose site will go under the name henrycountyrevenue.com.
With its integration into PayPal’s secure Internet payment system, people can do business from the comfort of their home.
"They will go online and search by their name, their parcel number or if they know their PIN number then it will give them a list of options," said Tillis.
The site will contain geographical mapping in early 2007, which means property owners won't have to come to the Mapping and Appraisals Office and ask for any of its hundreds of thousands of files.
"Some of our largest taxpayers don't live in Henry County; they live all over the world," said Kristie Allums of Henry Co. Revenue Commissioner
When you pay, Henry County property taxes you have to pay in one large lump sum, whereas with the new website you can make deferred payments. The site will be up and running October 1 of this year.
People doing mortgage-related services will also have access to the site.
