Columbia's War on Drugs

One Wiregrass community is stepping up its efforts in the war on drugs and residents did not have to wait long to see the results.

Columbia is a sleepy little farming community on the banks of the Chattahoochee River. But, because of its location, Police Chief David Morris says the Houston County town sees more than its share of illegal drugs.

Mayor James Green says his officers have launched a 12-month campaign to crack down on drug dealers and users.

Officer Jason Haynes has already made three drug arrests during the first week of the campaign against illegal drugs.

Police estimate the value of the drugs seized in Columbia so far to be around $10,000.
