Alabama Voters

The Alabama Legislature has sent Gov. Riley a sweeping package of election law changes.

They include requiring voters to show ID's at the polls and making it easier for many former felons to get their voting rights back.

The package also includes uniform polling hours of 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and an automatic recount in state elections separated by less than one-half percent.

Riley says the voter ID bill and uniform polling hours are significant election reform measures.

But, he has not said how he feels about the felon voting rights bill. He says he has concerns about whether language in the bill is strong enough to make sure former felons have taken care of all of their obligations.
