Tax Plan

Local educators have another reason to favor Governor Bob Riley's $1.2 billion tax and accountability plan.

One part features a way to attract teachers in specific subject areas.

The idea is to pay math and science teachers more and those willing to move to schools that have a hard time getting teachers in those fields.

The plan also suggests giving college scholarships to students who agree to fill the unwanted positions upon graduation.
