Conneway Memorial

Residents in Enterprise are remembering an American hero. Twenty-two-year-old Sgt. Tim Conneway was killed June 26 after an explosion in Baghdad.

Military officials told the family that Conneway was wounded in the blast but died two days later from cardiac arrest as he was boarding a plane for a hospital in Germany.

Conneway was assigned to the Third Battalion, 75th Ranger Regiment based at Fort Benning, Georgia.

Fred Conneway, who served in the Air Force, says his grandson was determined fairly early in life to follow in his family's footsteps to military service.

The mayor of Enterprise has ordered all flags in the city to be lowered to half-staff.

A memorial service will be held for Conneway at Hillcrest Baptist Church today.

Conneway is survived by his parents, wife and a brother.
