Authorities are trying to determine the identity of a body found in an Andalusia neighborhood.
A person walking their dog discovered the remains on the afternoon of July 4.
The badly decomposed body was found in a heavily wooded area off Prestwood Bridge Road.
Police say the body could have been there for more than a month.
Authorities believe the deceased is Vonnie Lee Prestwood. Police have been searching for the 57-year-old Andalusia woman since relatives reported her missing on June 3.
The remains have been sent to the Forensic Lab in Mobile.
Chief Williams says there didn't appear to be any blunt trauma or other evidence of foul play. He hopes to soon have a positive identification. It may take up to three weeks before autopsy results are complete.
