Water Rates

At Tuesday's city commission meeting, Commissioner Pat Thomas asked the Utilities Department to re-think some of the new water rates.

Thomas said some of his constituents have complained to him about the new rates.

He said he would like to look into the possibility of a senior citizens discount, and changing the sprinkler rate increase from 20,000 gallons to 50,000 gallons.

Currently, if you use more than 20,000 gallons to water your lawn your rate goes up to a $1.95 per thousand gallons.

Utilities Director Jimmy Kilgore told News 4 that he and his staff are going to crunch some numbers and see what they can do to make the rates more customer friendly.
