Deputy Shot Update

Two Georgia women are charged with attempted murder in last weekend's shooting of a sheriff's deputy in Cleburne County Alabama.

And the search for a third suspect, 47-year-old Billy Joe Howard has shifted to Rome, Georgia. The search was concentrated there after authorities traced a call from Howard's cell phone.

The Cleburne County Sheriff said 18-year-old Brandi Elliot and 30-year-old Jotty Brown, both of Tallapoosa, Georgia are being held in the Etowah County Jail.

Authorities believe Elliot and Brown were passengers in Howard's pickup truck at the time of the shooting.

Investigators said Deputy Gary Howell was shot in the face and ribs during a traffic stop last Friday. Howell is listed in serious condition at UAB Hospital.

Authorities say Howard will be charged with attempted murder.
