Labor Day DUI Checks

The three day Labor Day weekend officially gets underway at 6 p.m. Thursday night, and authorities in one Wiregrass county plan to be on the roads in full force.

Coffee County Sheriff deputies and New Brockton officers will work overtime. Funding for the overtime comes from an annual Southeast Alabama Medical Center safety grant. That grant is given to law enforcement agencies across the Wiregrass.

Sheriff Ben Moates says his personnel will keep a close eye on those drivers who display signs of impairment. In addition to not drinking and driving, motorists are being reminded to make sure they are "buckled up."
