Church Abuse

More developments in the priest abuse scandal plaguing the Catholic church.

This time, a powerful U.S. Cardinal reportedly is criticizing the man overseeing a national review panel, and the cardinal may ask for the man's removal.

Los Angeles Cardinal Roger Mahony tells the L.A. Times he is outraged by a statement by former Oklahoma Governor Frank Keating. Keating heads a panel looking at church abuse allegations across the country. Recently, Keating compared unnamed church leaders with members of the mafia.

Cardinal Mahony says that comparison is "the last straw,” and that Keating no longer may have the support of bishops in the U.S. Mahony and Keating have been in conflict since Keating first took his job on the panel.
