Church Burglary Arrests

arrest

Someone broke into four Houston County churches in less than a week. The suspects only trashed the Sardis Baptist Church, but some $10,000 worth of computers and electronic equipment was taken in the other three crimes.

Two suspects have been arrested so far. Eighteen-year-old Curtis Patrick of Dothan is charged with three counts of burglary, 21-year-old Jessica Gentry of Dothan is charged with a single count of receiving stolen property.

Sheriff Lamar Glover says the suspects were picked up after they took some of the stolen goods to a Dothan pawnshop.

Everything from computers and televisions to sound systems and musical instruments was taken in the crimes. But Sheriff Glover says, with the possible exception of one computer, all of the property has been recovered

Bond for Patrick has been set at $150,000.

Gentry is being held on a $50,000 bond. The sheriff says all of the recovered property will be returned to the churches as soon as possible.

A 16-year-old male has also been charged with three counts of burglary in connection with the case. Sheriff Glover says the teenager was an escapee from a juvenile detention center near Montgomery.
