The Chipola Community College in Marianna received some much needed funding Wednesday.
Florida State Representative Marti Coley presented a half-million dollar grant to Chipola president, Dr. Gene Prough.
The money came from the legislature's $33 million "Succeed Florida” legislation.
A large portion of Chipola's share will go into the Marianna school's automotive technology program.
The college's master-certified training education includes a computer laboratory and actual hands-on experience.
"It is an honor to be part of the legislature to present this check to Chipola. They’ve proved over the years to excel in all facets in education," said Rep. Coley
The grant dollars will also go to a program to encourage public school paraprofessionals to earn bachelor's degrees in math and science.
