Harris Murder Trial

The murder trial of Westley Devon Harris, charged in the August 2002 slayings of six members of his girlfriend's family has been rescheduled for Aug. 18, Harris was set to go on trial Monday in Luverne.

The 23-year-old Harris, who remains in the Crenshaw County Jail, is charged with six counts of capital murder.

Killed were 62-year-old Mila Ruth Ball; 35-year-old JoAnn Ball; 40-year-old Willie Hasley; and 19-year-old Jerry Ball; 17-year-old Tony Ball; and 14-year-old John Ball.

Authorities said the victims were slain at their small farm in Rutledge, 40 miles south of Montgomery.

If convicted, Harris could face death by lethal injection.
