Church Burglaries

Someone is breaking into Houston County churches and a reward is being offered to help solve the crimes.

The most recent break-in happened Monday night at the Sardis Baptist Church near Wicksburg. Someone kicked open the back door.

Church officials say nothing was taken, but the suspects sprayed a fire extinguisher around, then blocked sinks and turned on the water to flood part of the building.

Two other churches in the same area have been burglarized in less than a week. Computers, a television and sound system equipment were taken in those break-ins.

Crimestoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest. That number is 793-7000.
