Last year, the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers completed work on Geneva’s $12-million restored levee.
With the city sitting at the juncture of the Pea and Choctawhatchee Rivers, there is always a fear of flooding.
Geneva County Emergency Management Director Margaret Mixon says the restored levee has helped reassure people in the area.
"With the process that they did with renovating our levee and strengthening it tremendously, so really it is stronger than when first built," said Mixon.
Mixon believes the Geneva levee could withstand a major hurricane.
