Record rainfall drenched coastal Alabama and much of the state is under a tornado watch Tuesday morning.
Tropical Storm Bill has been downgraded overnight to a tropical depression and is sloshing toward north Alabama on a track toward eastern Tennessee.
There are no reports of major storm damage, but some areas were under tornado and flash flood warnings.
In Montgomery, a twister was reported near the airport at about 5:30 a.m. this morning it did not touch down.
Officials say the stormy weather damaged at least one mobile home and one house and caused several minor traffic accidents.
In Mobile, officials closed the Causeway, a major east-west route that parallels Interstate 10 and crosses Mobile Bay. Power lines and tree limbs were down in some areas around the county.
Mike Richter, a meteorologist with the weather service in Huntsville, says Bill would continue to churn its way toward Tuscaloosa and Birmingham by Tuesday afternoon on a path toward Chattanooga, Tenn.
