Dothan School Board Meeting

Some Dothan city school teachers who were given pink slips at the end of the year now appear to have their jobs back.

At Monday night's Dothan City School Board meeting, members agreed to reinstate 17 teaching positions.

One board member expressed concern about the board's decision since the state has not yet come up with the necessary money to pay for bringing the positions back, which could mean re-cutting the positions during the school year.

Superintendent Leon Hobbs says it is now up to Gov. Bob Riley to come up with the money to pay for the positions.

If the board had not voted to reinstate the positions, they would have faced financial penalties by the state.
