A Houston County resident announces his candidacy for a seat in the Alabama House of Representatives.
Benjamin Lewis is running for House District 86.
Lewis says he stands for conservative values and wants to take those views to the state legislature.
He says he also wants to provide tax relief to more than just lower income families.
He also believes more money should be allocated to support public education.
“I would like to see more schools. The ones we have are old. I would also like the money to be spent more effectively,” said Lewis
The House District 86 seat is currently held by Democrat Joe Carothers.
Lewis will appear on the November ballot as a republican.
