A Houston County Circuit Court jury has recommended the death penalty for a convicted killer who repeatedly offered a chance at life in prison without parole.
The 20-year-old, Ray Grace along with two other men robbed the old Southeast Mini Mart in Dothan back in 2004, killing 54-year-old Prakash Shah.
Defense attorneys claimed Grace was mentally retarded and by law could not face the death penalty.
However, jurors rejected that argument after deliberating about 45 minutes Monday morning.
The same panel then recommended the death penalty on an 11-to-1 vote.
Sentencing has been set for October 6th.
