Geneva city school Supt. Jim Bixby describes it as phenomenal growth. This school year his district has seen an increase of 45 new students.
Thirty-nine of the new students are going to school at Mulkey Elementary.
The larger numbers have allowed the district to hire two new kindergarten teachers, and an extra fourth-grade teacher.
Geneva native Olivia Stacy is one of the new instructors.
The growth has made it possible for her to start her goal as a teacher.
"Being a teacher is important in my life. I want to instill what others have instilled in me in getting kids to learn and I enjoy working with parents," said Stacy.
By having more students, the school district receive an increase in per pupil spending it receives from the state department of education.
