Enterprise House Fire

An Enterprise couple and their three children are lucky to be alive after a fire completely destroyed their home Tuesday morning.

Fire officials say the fire may have been started by one of the children.

At around 9 a.m. Michael Gary screamed to help get his three young children out of the house. Flames and smoke had filled the three-bedroom house on South Ann Street. There was only time to escape with their lives.

Candy Gary, Michael's wife, said it seem like only seconds before firefighters arrived on the scene. Enterprise Fire Chief Byron Herring believes the quick response helped save the structure.

Representatives with the Coffee County Chapter of the American Red Cross arrived to help the Gary family.

Michael Gary is active military stationed at Fort Rucker. The family may have lost everything, but one neighbor says at least their lives were spared.

Anyone wishing to help the Gary family and others who have suffered misfortune may contribute to the Coffee County Chapter of the American Red Cross.
