The company in charge of renovating the Houston County Courthouse has been told to get out, nearly a year-and-a-half after they were supposed to be finished with the project.

Houston County Commissioners voted unanimously to terminate their contract with Clark Construction Company.

Work on the courthouse was originally supposed to be completed in January of last year.

The job has also exceeded its budget by some $1.5 million.

County officials say when you add in the cost of renting the temporary courthouse annex, the $4.7 million project has already cost more than $6.3 million.

Colby Clark of Clark Construction Company says the county is partly to blame for some of the problems.

County officials say Clark Construction has seven days to vacate the premises upon termination of the contract.
