Etowah County Sheriff James Hayes says 36-year-old William Eric Krost was found dead early Saturday morning along with his three young children by his wife after spending a night out with friends.
A father apparently upset over his marital problems killed his three young children and then hanged himself.
Hayes said deputies found the couple's children, 10-year-old Brandon, eight-year-old Ashley and four-year-old Katherine, dead in their beds. Hayes says the couple was having marital problems and had been discussing divorce.
Krost also decapitated all six family pets, two dogs, three cats and an albino boa constrictor.
Investigators found an hourlong tape recording made by Krost that says he didn't want his wife to have the children.
