According to the Alabama Farmers Federation, shoppers across the state are paying a little less for groceries this month.
Overall food prices dipped seven-tenths of one percent.
The average cost statewide of a basic market basket of 20 food items is $43.23 in August.
That's down 29 cents from July.
U.S Agriculture official say the lower prices reflect an oversupply of poultry and pork.
Shoppers in northwest Alabama paid the cheapest price for a market basket and the highest was found in the central part of the state.
