A Houston County man was sentenced to nearly 200 years behind bars Wednesday.
A jury convicted Freeshon McLeod last month of the rape and attempted murder of a six-year-old girl.
At the trial, the little girl identified McLeod as the man who hit her in the head with a wok in October of 2001.
DNA evidence also linked McLeod to the crime.
Judge Brad Mendheim ordered McLeod to serve his two 99-year sentences consecutively.
The judge denied a motion for a new trial.
The defense attorneys plan to appeal.
