Village Cleaners Burglary

By  |

Village Cleaners is recovering after two burglaries Sunday night. The dry cleaning business has been the target of more than 10 burglaries in the past nine months. Police need your help to make an arrest.

This case is a little different than all the others. There is now a surveillance videotape and police are hoping someone will be able to identify the burglar and call in with a lead.

When workers at Village Cleaners on Highway 84 walked in Monday morning, the store had been broken into Sunday night, and the manager has reason to believe the burglar has visited the business before.

"In this instance we feel that someone was here before they knew where to go."

In video of the burglary as it happened, the suspect broke in with a hammer and then broke the lock off the safe. He is described as a white male wearing a black shirt.

Police feel confident they will catch the criminal if he continues his pattern.

"Quite often people are successful the first time, but unfortunately for them they get greedy, and when they do it too many times, we catch them."

Police are continuing their investigation of the case, and ask if you saw any suspicious activity Sunday night near the Village Cleaners on Highway 84 or on Fortner Street, to call in with the information.

The owner of the business is having more problems than losing the petty cash he keeps on hand. The glass doors cost about $500 a piece to replace, and because he has been victimized so many times in a short period of time, his insurance carrier has dropped him.
