When a disaster strikes, there's strength in numbers. That's why Coffee County is getting on board with a mutual-aid pact with other counties.
Coffee county EMA Director John Tallas received the county commission's approval to sign a mutual-aid pact with the state.
If a hurricane was to hit Mobile, Coffee County emergency responders would assist in the clean-up.
"As we get into future disasters, FEMA will start looking at your mutual-aid capabilities before they start providing public assistance. It is in our best interest to sign this document," said Tallas.
Last month, the cities of Elba and Enterprise also signed mutual-aid pacts to help neighboring cities following a disaster.
