Major Brian Orwig received the medal for his deployment with the 101st Airborne Division as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom in November 2005.
He is currently assigned to the Aircraft Technical Test Center at Fort Rucker.
The Bronze Star is awarded to any soldier who distinguishes himself by heroic achievement against an armed enemy.
“It's a tremendous honor because I don't feel like I deserve this award that's this big when there's others that have been out there in the field a lot longer than I was, but to be told by supervisors, it makes me feel proud that I contributed the way I did,” said MAJ Orwig.
Major Orwig's wife and daughter were there for Friday's ceremony.
