The Dothan Fire Department is losing one of its prized members. Fire Chief Sam Crawford announced he is retiring.
Crawford has worked as chief for the last five years and has worked with the city of Dothan for 29 years.
City officials are already looking to find an eligible candidate to fill the position.
They say Crawford has made positive improvements throughout the department and it will take a great candidate to fill his shoes.
City officials plan to hire a new fire chief by the end of this year.
