Buying the National Guard Building

New Brockton leaders are already getting a bid ready for the National Guard armory building in case the government closes it.

New Brockton Mayor Charles Cole says he's received word the commission on armories is looking to close the town's facility as part of a cost saving measure

If it happens, the town council has given the thumbs up to buying the building for $45,000 and turning it into a new city hall.

"So we'll have the first choice if we can get it or not. But I feel good about it. But we need to get this letter in as soon as we can," said Mayor Cole.

Last spring, the town of Samson purchased its National Guard armory with plans of making it a community center.
