A Coffee County woman has been indicted for allegedly stealing nearly $12,000 in welfare benefits.
Fifty-five-year-old Judy Thomas of Elba is charged with theft of property, forgery and identity theft.
Attorney General Troy King says Thomas forged signatures on a number of documents and misused the identifying information of another person to carry out her scheme.
Thomas faces from two to 20 years in prison and thousands of dollars in fines if she's convicted.
