Police were out in full force Thursday protecting students heading back to school.
Police staked out at Girard Schools to direct traffic.
Officials warn parents to enter Girard Street from Choctaw Street not Montgomery Highway since all turns are one way into the school.
Also, officers say Dothan High School's front circle is blocked, so parents must drop off students at Davis gym.
Police handed out two citations for speeding Thursday morning through school zones.
“All in all things are going good like I said we had a small wreck earlier and gave out two tickets but other than that things are going pretty good,” said SGT Tim Ward of Dothan Police.
Officials plan to monitor traffic in and around local schools for the next several days.
